Basic Boots

Start with the heel: a boot encloses it, while an open-back clog exposes it. If you want a quick slip-on shape, check how the clog holds your instep as you walk. If you want more coverage, compare a closed shaft and its opening.

Not automatically. Check each design's size guide and try it with your socks. Sizing up may add length without resolving local pressure over the instep; compare the last shape and entry opening as well.

Not necessarily. It may be leather or a material with a similar finish. Check upper, lining and sole composition separately: colour and texture alone cannot identify them or determine appropriate care.

Your toes should have space, your heel should stay supported and the instep should not feel pinched. Walk and bend your knees with your usual socks. Do not rely on a soft lining to compensate for pressure or on future stretching to fix a poor fit.

Warm lining or a thick sole does not establish waterproofing. Look for that feature on the product page; without it, do not choose the style as dedicated rain footwear.

Black and brown basic boots are among the easiest colours to combine. They work well with denim, neutral shades and a wide range of autumn and winter clothing.

Let the interior air out fully before storing the boots. Open functional fastenings and remove an insole only if it is designed to come out. Avoid radiators and direct heat, and follow the care instructions for the lining and upper separately.
